1967 Rolex GMT-Master 1675 - Stainless Steel, "Pepsi" Bezel

Details

An Icon In Original Form

The reference 1675 is the definitive vintage GMT-Master. Its production run spanned over two decades, and in that time it became one of the most recognizable watches ever made. This example from 1967 captures the model in a particularly strong configuration. The combination of the iconic Pepsi bezel and the rugged Oyster bracelet helped define the golden era of Rolex tool watches.

Honest Aging And A Riveted Link Bracelet

This example is in overall good condition. It stands out for its honest and original dial, which has has aged beautifully, developing a character that only decades of life can produce. Its Pepsi bezel shows an even patina that is desirable but not overly faded, retaining strong red and blue tones. The watch is fitted with a period-correct rivted Oyster bracelet, which maintains the tool watch aesthetic of the era.

A Well Preserved Mid Century GMT

The watch is in good vintage condition. The case retains a strong profile. The dial is in excellent shape, showing attractive and honest aging. The Riveted Oyster bracelet is period-correct and maintains good structural integrity for its age. The iconic red and blue "Pepsi" bezel insert shows patina consistent with a watch from this era. As with every watch we offer, this piece has been verified as mechanically sound and is ready to wear.

The Original World Timer

The GMT-Master was built for pilots and adopted by the world. It's a watch that is both a functional instrument and a style icon. This 1967 example is for the collector who wants a pure, vintage experience without compromising on originality. It’s a foundational piece for any serious collection and a perfect daily watch with a story.

History

The GMT-Master was developed in direct collaboration with Pan American World Airways in 1954, created specifically to allow their transatlantic pilots to track two time zones simultaneously. The solution was a fourth hand that completed one rotation every twenty-four hours, read against a rotating bezel divided into two twelve-hour sections. It was a functional tool built to a professional specification, and the two-tone bezel — initially in red and blue — became one of the most recognizable design elements Rolex ever produced. The reference entered production as a genuine instrument for professional aviation before it became a collector object.

The GMT-Master evolved steadily through the second half of the twentieth century. The original reference 6542 gave way to the 1675, which ran for nearly two decades and produced the broadest range of dial and bezel configurations in the model's history. The 16750 introduced the quick-set date function, and the 16710 refined the case and movement to the standard most collectors consider the apex of the reference. Each generation improved on the last without abandoning the essential utility that defined the original brief: a tool watch for people who needed to know what time it was in more than one place.

In the collector market, the GMT-Master occupies a position of consistent and serious demand. The early references with acrylic crystals and tropical dials command significant premiums, while the transitional references of the 1970s and 1980s offer strong design with improved wearing characteristics. The bezel color combination has always been part of the conversation — the red and blue "Pepsi" configuration defined the original, while the black and red "Coke" and all-black variants have their own specific following. It is a reference that rewards knowledge, because the range of configurations produced across its history is broad enough that a well-chosen example stands apart from the standard offering.

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
