1991 Rolex Cellini 5112 – 18K Rose Gold White Roman Dial

Details

The Refined Side Of Rolex

The Cellini line represents a deliberate departure from the utilitarian nature of the Rolex Oyster case. While the brand is world-renowned for its professional divers and chronographs, the reference 5112 focuses entirely on traditional dress watch proportions. Executed in 18k rose gold, this piece offers a level of warmth and subtlety that is often missing from more common yellow gold variants. It is a thin, manually wound timepiece that prioritizes elegance and discretion over technical theater.

Classic Proportions And Traditional Layout

At 32mm, this watch is designed to sit flat and unobtrusive on the wrist. The white Roman dial is the most balanced configuration for the Cellini, providing a high-contrast look that leans into its formal identity. The slim profile is made possible by the manual-wind movement, a feature that connects the wearer to the watch in a way an automatic cannot.

Honest Condition And Original Hardware

This example is in very good condition and shows signs of being well cared for over the last thirty years. The 18k rose gold case displays some natural tarnishing and light wear consistent with its age, which we have left as-is to preserve its character. The white Roman dial is clean and vibrant, though there is a small speck of dust visible near the 9 o’clock position. It remains on its original leather strap and includes the matching 18k rose gold Rolex buckle. The manual-wind movement is running strong after passing our test bench.

The Understated Dress Watch Choice

This is the correct choice for the collector who values the Rolex name but prefers a watch that does not demand attention. It functions as a dedicated dress piece that fits perfectly under a cuff. The combination of the rose gold and the original hardware makes this a complete and honest example of a neo-vintage Cellini. It is a sophisticated alternative for those who appreciate the heritage of the brand but want something that feels more personal and less predictable than a Datejust.

History

The Cellini line — named after Renaissance goldsmith and sculptor Benvenuto Cellini — is Rolex's dress watch offering, and it operates on entirely different logic than the sport and tool watches the brand is famous for. No date window, no rotating bezel, no crown guards. Just case, dial, and movement.

Introduced in the late 1960s, Cellini watches are exclusively 18-karat gold and are powered by manual-wind movements. The collection covers an extraordinary range of case shapes across its history: round, oval, rectangular, cushion, asymmetric, and the distinctive Cestello oval — all sharing a commitment to slim proportions and refined finishing that stands apart from anything else in the Rolex catalog.

References span from the early 3800-series oval cases of the late 1960s and early 1970s through the square 4233 Danaos of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Dials range from brushed champagne and silver sunburst to red and blue vignette, white Arabic, and foil patterns that no longer exist in current production. For collectors who want Rolex craftsmanship without the sport-watch aesthetic, Cellini is the answer — and it remains one of the most underappreciated categories in the entire vintage Rolex universe.

What Our Clients Say About Us

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
