2017 Jacob & Co Brilliant Rainbow - Rose Gold Rainbow Sapphire

Details

High Jewelry Meets High Watchmaking

Jacob & Co. built its reputation on the seamless integration of extravagant gem-setting and ambitious watchmaking. The Brilliant collection, introduced in 2017, serves as the ultimate canvas for this philosophy. This reference is a premier example, taking a classic rose gold case and transforming it into a spectacle of light and color. The "Rainbow" execution is a signature for the brand, requiring an expert eye to source and set a perfect gradient of natural sapphires. It's a watch that completely blurs the line between a timepiece and a piece of world-class jewelry.

A Masterpiece Of Gem Selection

The success of a rainbow setting is entirely dependent on the quality and arrangement of the stones. Each sapphire on the bezel is selected not just for its own merit, but for how it flows into the next, creating an unbroken spectrum. The dial is a second showcase of skill, with a glossy white finish serving as the backdrop for a pave diamond center and sapphire hour markers that echo the bezel. This is not simply a watch with gems added. It's a complex composition where every element is chosen to amplify the others, a skill Jacob & Co. has perfected since its founding.

Excellent, Complete, And Barely Worn

This 2017 example is in excellent overall condition, showing minimal signs of wear. The 18k rose gold case is sharp, appears unpolished, and the numerous sapphires and diamonds on the bezel, dial, and buckle are flawless. The glossy white dial is clean and vibrant. The original leather strap and rose gold buckle are present and in fine shape. This piece is offered as a full set, complete with its original box and papers. As with every watch we offer, this piece has been verified as mechanically sound and is ready to wear.

The Definition Of A Statement Piece

This is not a watch for someone who wants to fly under the radar. It's an unapologetic display of craft and confidence, made for an owner who appreciates the technical skill required to create such an object. While it's a sizable watch, the Brilliant case was designed to be versatile, and its seamless construction allows it to wear comfortably. It's the ultimate expression of modern horological luxury, perfect for a collector who understands that sometimes, more is more.

History

Jacob & Co. was founded in 1986 by Jacob Arabo in New York's Diamond District, initially as a high jewelry atelier before expanding into watchmaking. The brand built its early reputation on the strength of its gemstone sourcing and setting capabilities, attracting a clientele that included some of the most prominent figures in entertainment, sports, and finance. The Five Time Zone watch, introduced in 2002, became the brand's first iconic timepiece and established its position as a manufacturer willing to approach watchmaking from a perspective that prioritized visual impact and material extravagance over traditional Swiss conventions.

The brand's evolution from jeweler to serious watchmaker accelerated through the 2010s with the introduction of increasingly ambitious complications. The Astronomia Tourbillon, the Billionaire Watch, and the Brilliant collection demonstrated that Jacob & Co. had developed genuine horological capability to match its established expertise in gem-setting. The Brilliant collection in particular became a signature platform for the brand's diamond-setting craft, using cases and dials as canvases for complex arrangements of colored sapphires, rubies, and diamonds that required months of hand-selection to achieve the precise color gradients and uniformity that the designs demanded.

Among collectors, Jacob & Co. occupies a distinct position as a brand that bridges the worlds of high jewelry and high watchmaking without apology. The pieces command attention by design, and the quality of the gem-setting work is recognized as being among the finest produced by any manufacturer. Examples featuring rainbow sapphire arrangements or full pave diamond executions represent significant investments in both precious materials and craftsmanship, and the brand's limited production numbers for its most complex pieces ensure that well-specified examples retain their value in the secondary market.

What Our Clients Say About Us

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
