Audemars Piguet Bamboo - 18k Yellow Gold.

Details

Here's a vintage Audemars Piguet “Bamboo” in 18K yellow gold with a matte champagne dial and bezel from the 1980s. Keeps great time and is fully functional. Measurements include a 28mm case size across and an integrated bracelet that fits up to a 6.5 inch wrist. It's an odd tank shape and design from a brand that is a one trick pony with the royal oak. Interesting texture/ design in the in the tapered integrated “bamboo” style bracelet. Gold Dauphine hands. Matching gold hands and hour markers. Yellow gold case and bracelet. The piece is unisex, it can be worn by both men and women. The piece is great alternative and value from other pieces offered by AP. All parts are original including the dial, case, and movement. the dial and case are in great cosmetic, untouched condition.

History

The Bamboo takes its name and its texture from the jointed, segmented stalk: the bracelet links are shaped and finished to evoke the node-and-internode rhythm of the plant, creating an integrated watch that feels like jewelry while functioning as a serious timekeeping instrument.

Produced in the 1980s in 18-karat yellow and white gold with manual and quartz movements, the Bamboo references 2508 and 5620CA represent two ends of the spectrum — a diamond pave dial and bracelet on the 2508, a more austere grey brushed dial on the 5620CA. Both wear well under 32mm and were designed with a specific wearer in mind: someone for whom the watch and the bracelet are the same thing.
