Audemars Piguet Bamboo - Two Tone

Details

Here's a vintage Audemars Piguet Bamboo two-tone with a silver dial in 18K white gold from the 1980s. Measurements include a 27mm case size across and the bracelet fits a 6.5-6.75 inch wrist with extra links available by request. Two tone variations (yellow in the center) are seldom seen. There is a little bit of speckling around the 3 a clock position as seen in photos. Bamboo finish on both the bezel and bracelet. All parts including the crown, dial, movement, and caseback are original.

History

The Bamboo takes its name and its texture from the jointed, segmented stalk: the bracelet links are shaped and finished to evoke the node-and-internode rhythm of the plant, creating an integrated watch that feels like jewelry while functioning as a serious timekeeping instrument.

Produced in the 1980s in 18-karat yellow and white gold with manual and quartz movements, the Bamboo references 2508 and 5620CA represent two ends of the spectrum — a diamond pave dial and bracelet on the 2508, a more austere grey brushed dial on the 5620CA. Both wear well under 32mm and were designed with a specific wearer in mind: someone for whom the watch and the bracelet are the same thing.
