A Classic Complication From A Master

Before the Royal Oak became the brand's icon, Audemars Piguet was a master of the classical dress watch. This Day Date Moonphase is a perfect expression of that legacy. It combines three of the most useful and traditional complications into a single, beautifully balanced display. The reference 25589BA is a reminder of AP's deep heritage in high watchmaking, executed in a solid gold case with the kind of understated elegance that defined the manufacture in it's early life.

High Horology Without The Hype

This watch represents one of the strongest value propositions in vintage collecting. It offers a level of mechanical complexity and case finishing from a top-tier holy trinity brand for a fraction of what a comparable Patek Philippe would command. The yellow gold case with its signature stepped bezel is a study in proportion and classic design.

A Well Preserved Dress Piece

Overall, the watch is in very good condition. The 18K yellow gold case is in very good condition, with signs of gentle wear. The white dial is clean, with crisp Roman numerals and clear indications for all functions. The watch is fitted on a leather strap and is complete with its original 18K gold Audemars Piguet buckle. As with every watch we offer, this piece has been verified as mechanically sound and is ready to wear.

The Intelligent Choice In Gold

This is a watch for the collector who values watchmaking over marketing. It delivers a complicated, precious metal timepiece from one of the best names in the business in a discreet and timeless package. The case size wears beautifully as a traditional dress watch, fitting easily under a cuff. It's a confident and sophisticated choice that signals a real appreciation for the craft, not just the brand name on the dial.

History

Before the Royal Oak redefined the brand for a new generation, Audemars Piguet spent over a century establishing itself as one of the finest dress watch manufacturers in the world. Founded in 1875 in Le Brassus, the manufacture built its reputation on the strength of its movement finishing and its willingness to produce cases and bracelets of exceptional complexity. The dress watches produced from the 1950s through the 1980s represent the purest expression of this heritage — elegant shapes in precious metal, powered by slim hand-wound or automatic calibres, designed for clients who understood the difference between a luxury watch and a mass-produced one.

The range of case designs that Audemars Piguet explored during this period is remarkable. Ellipses, cushion cases, tonneau shapes, and slim round cases were all produced in yellow gold, white gold, and platinum, often with integrated bracelets that required the same level of engineering as the movements inside them. Stone dials, diamond-set bezels, and textured gold finishes were standard options rather than exceptions. The brand operated as both a watch manufacturer and a jeweler simultaneously, producing pieces that blurred the line between the two disciplines in a way that very few competitors could replicate.

Among collectors, the vintage Audemars Piguet dress watches occupy a position of growing significance. The market's focus on the Royal Oak has meant that the broader catalog remains comparatively undervalued relative to the quality of the manufacturing. Examples in precious metal with unusual dial configurations or integrated bracelets offer a level of craft and design conviction that is difficult to find at equivalent price points from any other manufacturer of comparable stature.

What Our Clients Say About Us

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
