Audemars Piguet Heavy Cobra - 18K White Gold Black Diamond Dial

The Masterclass Of 1970s Integrated Design

The Audemars Piguet Cobra series represents the absolute zenith of 1970s avant-garde haute joaillerie watchmaking, a definitive era where the boundary between heavy gold jewelry and ultra-thin horology was completely erased. Instead of treating the bracelet as a secondary accessory to the case, the manufacture engineered them as a singular, cohesive architectural sculpture. The "Heavy Cobra" is the ultimate expression of this philosophy, showcasing a fluid integration where the complex white gold mesh extends seamlessly from the edges of the case, wrapping the wrist in a bold, unbroken cuff of precious metal.

The Stark Contrast Of Black And Brilliant Cut

The visual identity of this piece is rooted in an uncompromised, sophisticated minimalism. The stark black dial serves as a deep, void-like backdrop that absorbs light, creating a powerful sense of depth and utilizing negative space to dramatic effect. This minimalist landscape is punctuated cleanly by factory-set diamond hour markers, allowing the gems to provide a razor-sharp flash of light against the monochromatic dark face. Framed by an integrated 18k white gold case and a textured, fluidly woven bezel profile, the entire layout relies on clean contrast and architectural purity over loud styling to make an executive statement.

Substantial Weight And Flawless Geometry

Condition: Excellent. The solid 18k white gold case and complex integrated "woven" bracelet have been meticulously preserved, retaining their sharp geometric transitions, clean borders, and distinct textured finish. The intricate mesh pattern remains tight and fluidly articulate, showing none of the stretching, twisting, or breakdown that frequently compromises heavy precious metal bands from this era. The deep black dial is entirely pristine, free of moisture damage or fading, and the factory diamonds remain beautifully secured in their original settings. Weighing a massive, substantial 130.8 grams, the watch carries an immense physical presence on the wrist that underscores its high-end luxury execution. The bracelet is configured in a generous full-length form, designed to comfortably fit a wrist size between approximately 7.5 and 7.75 inches.

An Uncompromising Vintage Statement

The Heavy Cobra is a watch built for the serious collector who values the rare, artisanal side of Audemars Piguet's historical legacy. Powered by an ultra-thin manual-wind mechanical movement, it preserves the classical horological discipline that defines the heritage of the house, offering a direct tactile connection between the owner and the caliber. Its tailored 27x29mm dimensions sit entirely flat against the anatomy of the skin, slipping effortlessly under a formal cuff while holding a commanding, undeniable presence when unveiled. Clean, honest, and increasingly difficult to find in this tier of preservation, it stands as an elite cornerstone alternative to standard mass-produced timepieces.

What Our Clients Say About Us

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
