A Study In Seamless Integration

In the era before the Royal Oak, Audemars Piguet was a master of high-concept dress watches executed in solid gold. This piece from the 1960s is a prime example of that design ethos. The "Landscape Ellipse" format was a canvas for the brand to explore how a watch case and bracelet could become a single, flowing object. Here, the bracelet isn't just attached to the case, it extends and merges directly with the bezel itself, creating one cohesive and uninterrupted form. It is a confident expression of mid-century luxury.

The Art Of The Integrated Bracelet

What makes this watch compelling is the purity of its design. Most integrated bracelet watches still have a distinct separation between the case and the band. This example does away with that, using the texture and form of the gold bracelet as the primary visual element that defines the entire piece. The result is a watch that wears more like a piece of jewelry, with a wide, cuff-like presence on the wrist.

An Honest Example In Solid Gold

This 18k yellow gold watch is in good overall condition. The case appears unpolished, retaining its original finish, while the bracelet's finish shows light, general scratching consistent with its age. The brushed champagne dial is clean. The integrated bracelet is solid, and at 74 grams, the watch has a satisfying weight that confirms its precious metal construction. As with every watch we offer, this piece has been verified as mechanically sound and is ready to wear.

For The Wrist That Wants Something Different

This is a watch for someone who appreciates the creative freedom of pre-Royal Oak AP. It is less about telling time and more about wearing a piece of sculpture. The horizontal case and fully integrated design make a statement that is both elegant and unconventional. It is a throwback to a time when brands were not defined by a single model, but by their ability to manipulate precious metals into truly artistic forms.

History

Before the Royal Oak redefined the brand for a new generation, Audemars Piguet spent over a century establishing itself as one of the finest dress watch manufacturers in the world. Founded in 1875 in Le Brassus, the manufacture built its reputation on the strength of its movement finishing and its willingness to produce cases and bracelets of exceptional complexity. The dress watches produced from the 1950s through the 1980s represent the purest expression of this heritage — elegant shapes in precious metal, powered by slim hand-wound or automatic calibres, designed for clients who understood the difference between a luxury watch and a mass-produced one.

The range of case designs that Audemars Piguet explored during this period is remarkable. Ellipses, cushion cases, tonneau shapes, and slim round cases were all produced in yellow gold, white gold, and platinum, often with integrated bracelets that required the same level of engineering as the movements inside them. Stone dials, diamond-set bezels, and textured gold finishes were standard options rather than exceptions. The brand operated as both a watch manufacturer and a jeweler simultaneously, producing pieces that blurred the line between the two disciplines in a way that very few competitors could replicate.

Among collectors, the vintage Audemars Piguet dress watches occupy a position of growing significance. The market's focus on the Royal Oak has meant that the broader catalog remains comparatively undervalued relative to the quality of the manufacturing. Examples in precious metal with unusual dial configurations or integrated bracelets offer a level of craft and design conviction that is difficult to find at equivalent price points from any other manufacturer of comparable stature.

What Our Clients Say About Us

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
