Baume & Mercier - 18K Gold (Oversized)

Details

Here's a vintage B&M tank manual wind in 18K yellow gold with a black dial from the 70s. It keeps great time and is fully functional. Irregular case shape and 18mm lug width, .It's on its original black leather strap with matching yellow gold buckle. No numerals on the dial. Time only. Dauphine hands. Unique case and crystal. Unique rope-textured gold bezel. Serial number on caseback: 649992. These tanks are quite uncommon especially in this condition. The dial and the crystal are free from any scratches or marks. A great tank alternative to a more traditional Cartier. All parts are original including the dial, crown, movement, and caseback. Both the dial and case are in great cosmetic, untouched condition.

History

Baume & Mercier traces its origins to 1830 in Switzerland, making it one of the older names in watchmaking. Part of the Richemont group since the late 1980s, the brand produced elegant dress watches throughout the 1970s through 1990s in 18-karat gold — pieces like the TV Integrated Dress, the Tiffany-double-stamped examples, and the Shogun — that represent a style of refined Swiss watchmaking that has largely disappeared from current production. Our vintage examples in yellow and rose gold are understated in the way that genuinely well-made things tend to be.
