History

Founded in 1735, Blancpain is often cited as the oldest watch brand still operating under its original name. When the quartz revolution threatened to render mechanical watchmaking obsolete in the 1970s and 1980s, Blancpain famously declared it would never make a quartz watch — a position it has maintained. The Villeret collection is its most classical expression: round cases, elegant proportions, and movements of genuine complication. Our examples include perpetual calendar and triple calendar references in 18-karat yellow gold, representing the refined watchmaking that Blancpain survived the quartz era to continue producing.
