Blancpain Villeret Ultra-Slim 5015B – 18K Yellow Gold Silver Roman Dial

The Purest Form Of The Dress Watch

Blancpain's Villeret collection is the brand's most traditional line, focusing on slim profiles and timeless aesthetics. This example, produced in the 1990s, features the signature double-stepped bezel in 18k yellow gold. The silver dial with Roman numerals is a layout that has remained a constant in the brand's catalog for good reason.

Early Production And Refined Design

This model specifically is an exceptionally early production piece from the (semi) modern era when Blancpain was re-establishing itself as a leader in mechanical watchmaking. The 18k yellow gold construction provides a warmth that complements the silvered dial. It's a watch that relies on the quality of its materials and the balance of its proportions rather than visual gimmicks or over-designed elements.

Honest Condition With Original Accessories

The watch is in overall good condition. The 18k yellow gold case retains the original definition of the stepped bezel. The silver dial is clean overall, though there is a small mark near the 9 o'clock that is only visible under close inspection. The crystal is perfect. This piece remains on its original leather strap with the signed 18k gold buckle. After passing our test bench, the automatic movement is confirmed to be running strong.

A Refined Choice For The Classicist

At 33mm, this watch is designed for those who appreciate traditional proportions. It sits flat against the wrist and slides easily under a cuff, making it an ideal choice for formal wear or a sophisticated daily driver. It offers the prestige of a solid gold Blancpain with a very low production number, providing a level of pedigree that is difficult to match. It's a quiet and confident timepiece for someone who values substance over hype.

History

The Blancpain Villeret collection takes its name from the Swiss village in the Vallée de Joux where the brand's manufacture has been located since its founding in 1735. The Villeret line was developed as the purest expression of Blancpain's dress watch identity — a commitment to round cases, manually-wound or elegantly finished automatic movements, and dial layouts that prioritized legibility and proportion over the display of technical complications. The collection became the vehicle through which Blancpain demonstrated that its revival under the Swatch Group, beginning in 1983, was grounded in genuine craft rather than commercial repositioning.

The complications applied to the Villeret platform — perpetual calendars, moon phases, minute repeaters, and tourbillons — were chosen for their horological significance rather than their marketability. The perpetual calendar Villeret, in particular, was designed to display the full calendar function in a dial layout that remained balanced and readable despite the mechanical complexity involved. The moon phase indication, calibrated to deviate by only one day every 122 years in the most precise versions, reflected the manufacture's history of producing precision instruments rather than fashion objects. These complications were applied to a dress watch form that had not changed because it did not need to.

For collectors of high-complication dress watches, the vintage Villeret occupies a position of genuine interest that has grown as the market has recognized the quality of what Blancpain produced during the late 1980s and 1990s. Examples in yellow gold with perpetual calendar or moon phase complications are the most sought after, and the condition of the enamel or lacquer dial is the primary determinant of value for any given piece. The Villeret represents Swiss watchmaking practiced at a level of seriousness that was unusual in the era of its production and remains admirable from a contemporary perspective.

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
