Cartier 1950 Signed By Christian Dior #716 Antique Baby Bowl Unique Memorabilia

Details

This exceptional sterling silver baby bowl represents a rare and prestigious intersection of two titans of 20th-century luxury: Cartier and Christian Dior. Crafted in 1950, this piece exemplifies the refined elegance of mid-century silverwork, offering a sophisticated silhouette that balances utility with high-art provenance. The bowl’s clean, polished surfaces and substantial weight reflect the uncompromising quality synonymous with the House of Cartier during its golden era.

The surface of the bowl serves as a canvas for a historic collaboration, featuring a meticulously engraved signature by Christian Dior. This unique detail transforms a classic nursery essential into a piece of significant fashion and design memorabilia. The brilliance of the sterling silver provides a luminous backdrop for the hallmarkings, catching the light with a soft, mirrored glow that highlights the bowl’s gentle curves and flared rim. The presence of both the Cartier stamp and Dior’s signature speaks to a bespoke moment in history, likely commissioned as a commemorative gift within the highest echelons of society.

The design is defined by its elegant simplicity, characterized by a smooth, rounded basin and a stable, integrated base. Unlike more ornate Victorian examples, this 1950s piece favors a minimalist aesthetic, allowing the purity of the metal and the significance of the inscriptions to take center stage. The craftsmanship is evident in the seamless transitions and the heavy, luxurious feel of the silver, ensuring the piece is as durable as it is beautiful.

The condition is remarkable for a functional object of this vintage, showing a gentle patina and fine surface marks consistent with seventy-five years of careful preservation. These subtle signs of age lend the bowl a sense of history and "soul," verifying its authenticity without detracting from its brilliant luster or structural integrity.

This baby bowl will appeal to discerning collectors of Cartier silver, devotees of Christian Dior’s legacy, and those who curate unique historical memorabilia. It is far more than a functional heirloom; it is a tangible piece of mid-century glamour and a testament to an era when even the most humble objects were elevated by the touch of master designers. Whether displayed in a collection of fine silver or held as a cherished investment, this bowl represents a rare opportunity to own a collaborative masterpiece from the peak of French luxury.

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
