Chopard St Moritz - Skeleton Two Tone

Structure on display

At a glance, what stands out is the dial. Fully skeletonized and finished in a warm champagne tone, it immediately sets this Chopard St. Moritz apart from the standard executions most people recognize.

Executed in steel and 18k yellow gold with Chopard’s integrated bracelet, this is a genuinely uncommon variation from the 1980s — one that leans into architecture and mechanics rather than surface finish alone.

Why this variation matters

The St. Moritz is best known as Chopard’s early answer to the integrated-bracelet sports watch era, but skeletonized examples like this were produced in far smaller numbers. The openworked champagne dial introduces depth and mechanical interest without sacrificing balance, anchored by a sub-seconds register at six o’clock that keeps the layout grounded and legible.

Paired with the two-tone integrated bracelet, the watch leans more architectural than sporty. The contrast between steel and yellow gold highlights the case symmetry and reinforces the model’s design-forward identity — a direction Chopard explored confidently during this period, but rarely at this level of execution.

Preserved as intended

The dial and case present in fantastic cosmetic condition, showing careful wear consistent with age. The skeleton work remains clean and well defined, and the case retains its original edges without softening. The manual-wind movement is fully functional and keeps excellent time.

All components are original, including the signed Chopard crown, dial, movement, case, and caseback, preserved together exactly as intended.

A St. Moritz that stands apart

This isn’t the standard St. Moritz, and that’s precisely the point. It’s a rarer, more expressive variation of the model — one that rewards a closer look and wears with confidence without feeling derivative.

A strong example of Chopard at its most design-driven, and a piece that fits naturally into a collection for many different reasons. Ready to wear.

History

Chopard was founded in 1860 in Sonvilier, Switzerland, and has been family-owned since Karl Scheufele acquired the company in 1963. The L.U.C division — named after founder Louis-Ulysse Chopard — produces in-house movements of genuine quality. Our vintage inventory includes the St. Moritz skeletonized piece and an LUC Dual Time tank case, alongside Chopard Laykin & Co. double-stamped examples that carry California retail history. These are watches from the era when Chopard was building its reputation as a serious watchmaker alongside its better-known jewelry business.
