History

Vintage integrated gold watches from Audemars Piguet sit in a category of their own. In the 1970s and 1980s, the brand wasn’t just making traditional dress watches in gold. It was experimenting with form, materials, and full metal construction in a way most houses weren’t willing to.When people think “integrated bracelet,” they think of the Royal Oak from 1972. That design changed the industry. But at the same time, AP was producing fully integrated gold pieces that leaned more sculptural and less sporty. References like the Cobra automatic 5403, the mini Cobras, and the Bamboo weren’t trying to be conservative. They were bold, heavy, and unmistakably 70s.The key difference was the construction. These watches weren’t a case with a strap attached. The bracelet was the case. Solid 18k gold flowed straight through the entire piece. No visible lugs, no break in design. It felt like one object, not assembled parts. That alone set them apart from most gold watches of the era.AP used stone dials long before they were trendy again. Lapis lazuli, malachite, tiger’s eye, aventurine, turquoise. These weren’t easy materials to work with. They’re thin, brittle, and crack easily during fitting or servicing. That’s part of why clean, original stone dial examples are hard to find today. Many didn’t survive untouched. They also produced diamond-set dials and fully jeweled variations. Not subtle pieces. These were unapologetically luxurious. Solid gold case and bracelet paired with pavé or unique dial work. In the 70s and 80s that was a statement. They represent a period where AP was willing to experiment outside the boundaries of conservative Swiss design. Integrated construction. Heavy gold. Nontraditional dial materials. Limited production. Many were made in small batches or custom configurations. They weren’t mass market pieces. From a collector’s standpoint, rarity matters. So does survival. Stone dials crack. Gold cases get over-polished. Bracelets get stretched. Finding strong, original examples is difficult. That’s part of why demand has picked up in recent years. That’s why serious collectors chase them. Not because they’re loud, but because they represent a moment when a major Swiss house pushed design further than most people realized.

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
