A Landmark Moment For Independent Watchmaking

The Harry Winston Bi-Retrograde Perpetual Calendar is a historically significant watch. Introduced in 1989, it was the world's first perpetual calendar to use a dual retrograde display, a groundbreaking achievement that instantly established the high jeweler as a serious force in horology. This was made possible through a legendary collaboration with two master watchmakers, Jean-Marc Wiederrecht and the late Roger Dubuis, who developed the revolutionary module. This piece hails from the second series, produced between 1992 and 1994, and features the more desirable automatic movement. With a total production of around 600 units across all variations, it represents a rare and pivotal moment in modern watchmaking.

Yellow Gold, Lapis, And Perfect Proportions

This example pairs the warmth of an 18K yellow gold case with a clean, legible white dial. The complication is displayed with perfect symmetry, but the true highlight is the moonphase disc, rendered in a deep, vibrant Lapis Lazuli. This touch of precious stone is a direct nod to Harry Winston's heritage as a jeweler, elevating the watch beyond a purely mechanical exercise. At 37.5mm, the case is perfectly sized for a complicated dress watch, offering significant presence without sacrificing elegance. It is fitted on its original leather strap with the correct 18K yellow gold clasp, confirming its completeness.

An Unpolished And Well Preserved Example

This example is in very good condition. The 18K yellow gold case is unpolished, retaining its original factory lines and sharp definition. The white dial is clean, and most importantly, the Lapis Lazuli moonphase disc is flawless and shows no signs of cracks or fractures. All perpetual calendar, moonphase, and retrograde functions are operating correctly. As with every watch we offer, this piece has been verified as mechanically sound and is ready to wear.

For The Collector Of The Unconventional

This is a watch for the serious collector who understands its importance. It is not a mainstream choice, but a monument to the era of independent creativity that began in the early 1990s. The Bi-Retrograde is often considered the spiritual predecessor to the brand's famed Opus series, embodying the same ethos of collaborating with independent masters to push horological boundaries. It offers the intellectual satisfaction of a grand complication with the provenance of a legendary partnership, making it a cornerstone piece for any collection focused on horological innovation.

What Our Clients Say About Us

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
