Omega Speedmaster - Triple Calendar

Details

Here’s an Omega Speedmaster Automatic Triple Calendar with a black dial from the late 1990's. Keeps great time and is fully functional.

Measurements include a 38mm case size and 18mm lug width. It’s on its original Omega stamped bracelet with 850 endlinks that fits up to a 7.25 inch wrist.

Functions include the time, chronograph, date, day, month, and 24-hour time. The white central date pointer traces the outer track, while the day and month windows are neatly positioned at 12 o’clock. The black sub-dials display running seconds, 30-minute counter, 12-hour counter, and 24-hour indication. The dial features applied Arabic numerals, adding a bold and technical look.

The lume in both the hands and hour markers is a matching crisp white, providing excellent visibility.

The watch has a steel case, bezel, and caseback with brushed and polished finishing.

All parts are original including the signed Omega crown, caseback, dial, and movement. Both the dial and case are in great cosmetic, untouched condition.

History

In 1957, Omega released the Speedmaster as a racing chronograph. Eight years later, NASA put it through a battery of extreme tests — temperature, humidity, vacuum, shock, vibration, acceleration — and in 1965 certified it as the official watch for all manned space missions.

On July 20, 1969, Buzz Aldrin wore his Speedmaster on the surface of the Moon. No other watch has been to the Moon. That fact has never stopped mattering to anyone who cares about watches.

The Speedmaster's production history across our inventory is rich: the manual-wind Professional (ref 145.022 from 1969 itself), the Reduced automatic (3510.5, 3511.5, 3511.8 with date), the Triple Calendar series (3521, 3523.3), the Michael Schumacher limited editions (3810.12, 3518.5), and the AC Milan and Schumacher World Champion 2000 editions. Each variant was built on the same essential chassis — the 39mm steel case, the tachymeter bezel — and each one lands somewhere on the continuum between racing instrument and artifact of human achievement.
