Piaget Dancer - Opal & Onyx Dial

Trade In

This is Piaget at its most confident

The Dancer was Piaget’s answer to fluid luxury in the 1980s. Everything here is about continuity. Case, bezel, and bracelet are designed as one uninterrupted surface, meant to move with the wrist rather than sit on top of it. In yellow gold, the effect is warm and unmistakably Piaget.

The dial immediately sets the tone. Stone, diamonds, and restraint all working together without excess.

Why this configuration matters

Stone dial Dancers sit in a much smaller category of Piaget production. Opal and onyx are both unforgiving materials. Add diamonds and the margin for error gets even thinner. Most examples did not survive intact. This dial did, and that is the entire story. Clean, uncracked, and properly set, it anchors the watch and elevates it beyond standard Dancer executions.

The integrated bracelet matters just as much. Piaget treated the bracelet as part of the design language, not an accessory. The matching texture between the bracelet and bezel gives the watch its identity. When these bracelets stretch or lose definition, the watch loses its point. This one remains in good shape with only light age related tarnish.

What you need to know before wearing it

Condition is very good. The dial is perfect. The crystal is perfect. The case and bracelet present well with minor tarnish consistent with age. The bracelet remains structurally sound and wears as intended. The quartz movement is running properly, and the time setting function works correctly. The time setting is quirky and a cute idea from Piaget at the time.

Why this watch still holds weight

This is not a subtle watch, but it is a controlled one. It represents Piaget doing exactly what it did best in this era. Stone dials, precious metal, and seamless design executed without apology.

It works for someone who appreciates material rarity and understands that condition on stone dial Piagets is everything. Distinct, well preserved, and far harder to replace than a standard gold Dancer once it leaves.

Every watch we offer has been authenticated and mechanically looked over to ensure immediate usability.

History

Even before the Polo, Piaget was known for creating watches whose cases and bracelets were fashioned as one.  In the 1960s the company began producing ultra‑thin watches with finely woven bracelets made of gold, sometimes referred to as mesh or woven‑link bracelets.  These pieces often featured stone dials in lapis lazuli, jade, coral or tiger’s eye .  The marriage of colourful dials and delicate gold bracelets exemplified Piaget’s skill as both watchmaker and jeweller.  Later integrated designs used solid gold links that gave the watch a sculptural quality while maintaining comfort on the wrist.  Such models are coveted today for the craftsmanship required to integrate movement, case and bracelet into a unified whole.

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
