Piaget Polo – 18K Yellow Gold Champagne Dial

Details

The solid gold monolith

The Piaget Polo is not just a watch; it is the definitive symbol of the "Jet Set" era. In the late 1970s, this was the most expensive and recognizable luxury sport watch in the world, favored by a elites who demanded statement pieces. This Reference 15301 is a concentrated expression of that legacy, a sculptural block of 18k yellow gold that carries an unmistakable weight and presence on the wrist.

A study in sculptural unity

The iconic polished bars run seamlessly across the dial, through the case, and down the entire length of the bracelet. This creates a "cuff" effect that makes the watch feel like a single, solid object carved from a bar of gold. Because there are no traditional lugs or breaks in the design, it wears with fluid, seamless continuity.

Honest and verified

This example is in good vintage condition. The 18k yellow gold remains sharp, with the contrasting brushed and polished finishes still defined and catching the light as intended. While there is some minor debris visible under the crystal, the overall structural integrity of the case and the integrated bracelet is excellent. Mechanically, the quirky-in-operation quartz movement is running strong after passing our test bench.

The definitive jet-set trophy

This is for the person who wants the most iconic expression of 1970s Piaget. It's a rare, intentional choice that remains a trophy for the collector who values the boldest era of the brand and wants a show stopping piece.

We offer bracelet extension and cutting by our professional in-house jewelers. Extra links or sizing for smaller wrists are available upon request.

History

When Piaget unveiled the Polo in 1979, the watch world was still processing what Audemars Piguet had done in 1972 with the Royal Oak. Piaget's answer was the Polo: an integrated bracelet watch with an ultrathin movement housed in a round case, built entirely in 18-karat gold, and priced accordingly.

The Polo was named for the sport that Yves G. Piaget — grandson of the founder — played and sponsored, and the watch carried his sensibility: sporty enough to wear at the polo grounds, refined enough to wear at the dinner that followed. The integrated bracelet, with its alternating polished and brushed surfaces, is one of the most tactile in the industry.

Reference 7661 (the "Jumbo" Polo in 34mm) and the smaller 861 C 701 are the classic references. Available in yellow and white gold, with onyx, diamond, and solid-colored dials, the Polo represents Piaget at full confidence — a manufactory that had spent decades making the thinnest movements in the world, finally putting them in a watch that matched their ambition.

What Our Clients Say About Us

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
