Piaget Polo 7131 - 18K Yellow Gold

Details

Here’s a rare and striking example of Piaget’s goldsmithing artistry: a vintage Piaget Polo Cuff reference 7131 from the 1980s, executed entirely in solid 18k yellow gold and retaining its original, unpolished condition. Featuring a 25mm case and Piaget’s signature integrated bracelet design, this piece blends refined geometry with unmistakable wrist presence — a wearable sculpture from one of Swiss watchmaking’s most elegant maisons.

This particular example stands out for its matching horizontal ribbed texture across both the bezel and bracelet, a hallmark of the Polo line that adds cohesion and richness to the design. Gold dauphine hands hover above a minimalist dial, underscoring Piaget’s timeless aesthetic and commitment to pared-back luxury.

Despite its honest surface wear — visible scratches throughout the case, bezel, and bracelet — the watch remains completely unpolished, a rare quality that preserves the original lines and surfaces as delivered by Piaget’s ateliers. The dial and crystal are flawless, and the watch was recently serviced, making it fully functional and ready to wear.

Fitted with its original screw-link bracelet, the watch comfortably fits wrists up to 6.75 inches and can be adjusted further. All components — from the dial and movement to the caseback — remain 100% original.

Unpolished Polo Cuffs are increasingly hard to come by, especially in such complete and untouched form. This example offers not just a unique slice of Piaget’s high-craft legacy, but a bold, precious statement piece that balances vintage charm with enduring sophistication.

History

When Piaget unveiled the Polo in 1979, the watch world was still processing what Audemars Piguet had done in 1972 with the Royal Oak. Piaget's answer was the Polo: an integrated bracelet watch with an ultrathin movement housed in a round case, built entirely in 18-karat gold, and priced accordingly.

The Polo was named for the sport that Yves G. Piaget — grandson of the founder — played and sponsored, and the watch carried his sensibility: sporty enough to wear at the polo grounds, refined enough to wear at the dinner that followed. The integrated bracelet, with its alternating polished and brushed surfaces, is one of the most tactile in the industry.

Reference 7661 (the "Jumbo" Polo in 34mm) and the smaller 861 C 701 are the classic references. Available in yellow and white gold, with onyx, diamond, and solid-colored dials, the Polo represents Piaget at full confidence — a manufactory that had spent decades making the thinnest movements in the world, finally putting them in a watch that matched their ambition.

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
