Piaget Polo Date 15791 C701 – Yellow Gold Gold Dial

Details

Iconic Polo design with the weight to match

The Polo was never about subtlety. It was about unified gold, clean horizontal lines, and presence you could feel before you even looked at the dial. In full solid gold, that design philosophy makes complete sense.

You do not just see this watch. You feel it. The weight of solid gold is part of the appeal, not a side note. It reinforces the identity of the Polo as one of the most recognizable integrated gold designs of its era.

Why this configuration matters

The Polo Date in full 18K yellow gold captures exactly what Piaget was doing at the time. Strong horizontal lines, integrated construction, and a gold dial that blends into the case and bracelet. This model adds the date feature yet still retains the funky GMT-like functionality these watches are known for.

There is no break in the design. The bezel, mid case, and bracelet are unified. It feels cohesive and deliberate. These watches were not subtle when they were made and they are not subtle now. The watch is slim, reliable, and designed for daily wear without compromising the clean profile.

What you need to know before wearing it

The quartz movement is running properly. Overall condition is good for its age. The case and bracelet shows small surface marks consistent with age. The bracelet remains tight, keeping the watch feeling balanced on the wrist.

A true era piece

This is a watch that makes sense the moment you put it on. It feels like the late seventies and eighties in the best way. Substantial, confident, and built around material as much as mechanics.

For someone who understands why Polos matter, especially in full gold, this is exactly the kind of example that delivers the experience.

Every watch we offer has been authenticated and mechanically looked over to ensure immediate usability.

Bracelet extension, cutting, or sizing is available upon request through our professional in-house jewelers.

History

When Piaget unveiled the Polo in 1979, the watch world was still processing what Audemars Piguet had done in 1972 with the Royal Oak. Piaget's answer was the Polo: an integrated bracelet watch with an ultrathin movement housed in a round case, built entirely in 18-karat gold, and priced accordingly.

The Polo was named for the sport that Yves G. Piaget — grandson of the founder — played and sponsored, and the watch carried his sensibility: sporty enough to wear at the polo grounds, refined enough to wear at the dinner that followed. The integrated bracelet, with its alternating polished and brushed surfaces, is one of the most tactile in the industry.

Reference 7661 (the "Jumbo" Polo in 34mm) and the smaller 861 C 701 are the classic references. Available in yellow and white gold, with onyx, diamond, and solid-colored dials, the Polo represents Piaget at full confidence — a manufactory that had spent decades making the thinnest movements in the world, finally putting them in a watch that matched their ambition.

What Our Clients Say About Us

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
