Stone-first Piaget, executed properly

This vintage Piaget from the 1980s shows the brand at its most confident, when material choice and proportion mattered more than complication. This is one of those pieces wher you can find real equilibrium - both the band and the case compliment eachother evenly. But that's only half of the story.

Why this configuration is hard to find

Many Piaget stone-dial watches surface today head-only or paired with straps, often long separated from their original bracelets. Finding an example where the tiger eye dial is matched with its integrated gold bracelet is far less common and firmly places this toward rarest for the model.

The visual weight is shared evenly: the natural movement in the stone draws you in, while the gold bracelet anchors the watch as a complete object rather than a dial-first novelty. The proportions remain compact and elegant, letting material and finish do the work without excess.

Preserved with clarity

The Tiger Eye stone both in the bezel and the dial are both in fantastic condition, with both showing no cracks, a rarity in this model specifically. To add on top, The woven band is in excellent condition and shows incredible detail, comparable to new. The movement is fully functional and keeps good time. Overall, the watch reflects careful ownership and consistency rather than restoration.

A complete Piaget, not just a stone dial

This is a Piaget for someone who understands that the best examples are about balance, not just standout materials. The dial draws attention, but the bracelet is equally important to the experience, giving the watch presence and completeness that many examples lack.

Elegant, design-forward, and increasingly difficult to find in this form, it’s a strong representation of Piaget’s stone-dial era.

History

Piaget was founded in 1874 by Georges-Édouard Piaget in La Côte-aux-Fées, Switzerland. The company originally started as a workshop specializing in the production of high-quality movements for other watchmakers. Piaget gained a reputation for its excellence in craftsmanship and its ability to create ultra-thin movements, a trademark that would later become one of its signature features.Piaget’s journey as a watchmaker shifted toward producing timepieces with record-breaking movements in luxury hand-crafted precious metal watches, such as the Piaget Polo, Protocol, Emperador, Altiplano, and several other models. They focused on the watch's appearance and innovative movements like the 7P, 9P, 12P, 530P automatic, and some ultra-thin mechanical movements.Piaget is known for its luxury craftsmanship, which means they don't settle for anything less than perfection. Each gold watch is made with precise finishes throughout the case and bracelet. Piaget only created timepieces in precious metals, which meant there was lots of room for error, as these metals are more fragile. They employed the best goldsmiths in the world, who worked around the clock to ensure that every watch was made perfectly. Since each Piaget is made by hand, almost every one is unique in its own way—whether it’s a malachite stone dial cut from a single stone or a bracelet with a Florentine finish that differs slightly from another. Many watch brands create gold watches with true craftsmanship, but when it comes to Piaget, nothing could top them in terms of quality. Throughout the 1960s to the 1990s, Piaget gained popularity with celebrities and royalty, cementing its status as a symbol of luxury.

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
