Rolex Cellini 4322 - Ruby Dial 1976

Details

Some watches feel preserved. Others feel untouched.
This Rolex Cellini reference 4322 belongs firmly in the latter category.

possible piece unique, this extraordinary Cellini from 1976 features a champagne dial accented with ruby hour markers — an uncommon, almost regal configuration rarely encountered in the Rolex catalog. Executed entirely in 18K yellow gold and preserved in mint, unpolished state, it reads less like a vintage watch and more like a time capsule.

The presence of the original caseback sticker still intact is a detail reserved for truly special pieces. It speaks to careful ownership, minimal wear, and decades spent protected rather than rotated. The case lines remain sharp and untouched, while the dial remains in perfect condition with no signs of interference — a combination that is exceptionally difficult to find.

Cellini models from this era were never mass-market watches. They were discreet, elegant objects often commissioned for royalty, dignitaries, and clients who valued refinement over recognition. The ruby-set dial elevates this example even further, transforming it from a dress watch into a statement of quiet authority, likely made for Royalty

This is the kind of watch that doesn’t announce itself — it reveals itself.
A rare opportunity to acquire a museum-level Cellini that feels more like a private commission than a production Rolex.

History

The Cellini line — named after Renaissance goldsmith and sculptor Benvenuto Cellini — is Rolex's dress watch offering, and it operates on entirely different logic than the sport and tool watches the brand is famous for. No date window, no rotating bezel, no crown guards. Just case, dial, and movement.

Introduced in the late 1960s, Cellini watches are exclusively 18-karat gold and are powered by manual-wind movements. The collection covers an extraordinary range of case shapes across its history: round, oval, rectangular, cushion, asymmetric, and the distinctive Cestello oval — all sharing a commitment to slim proportions and refined finishing that stands apart from anything else in the Rolex catalog.

References span from the early 3800-series oval cases of the late 1960s and early 1970s through the square 4233 Danaos of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Dials range from brushed champagne and silver sunburst to red and blue vignette, white Arabic, and foil patterns that no longer exist in current production. For collectors who want Rolex craftsmanship without the sport-watch aesthetic, Cellini is the answer — and it remains one of the most underappreciated categories in the entire vintage Rolex universe.

What Our Clients Say About Us

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
