A Brief History of Rolex:

Rolex was founded in 1905 by Hans Wilsdorf and his brother-in-law Alfred Davis in London. Origins of the Rolex Cellini Line

The Rolex Cellini line was officially introduced in the mid-1960s as a dedicated dress watch collection, a deliberate departure from Rolex's tool watch legacy — Submariner, GMT-Master, Explorer, etc.

• First, Rolex Cellinis started appearing around 1964-1968, depending on the reference.
• Named after Benvenuto Cellini, a renowned 16th-century Italian goldsmith, sculptor, and artist, famous for his refinement and artistry, the name alone sets the tone: this is Rolex’s ode to elegance.

 What Makes the Cellini Line Special?

• The Cellini line was Rolex saying, “We can do elegance, too.”
