Tudor Prince Date-Day 94500 - Stainless Steel Blue Sunburst Dial

Details
The Day-Date, In Steel
The Day-Date is an icon defined by its use of precious metals. Rolex never made it in steel, which is exactly why Tudor did. This 1982 Prince Date-Day ref. 94500 takes the most prestigious calendar complication and renders it in rugged, everyday stainless steel. This simple change in material completely alters the character of the watch, transforming it from a symbol of status into a versatile and understated daily companion. It represents a brief and fascinating chapter when Tudor offered a configuration its parent company would not.
A Study In Subtle Differences
This blue sunburst dial is the main event, shifting from a deep navy to a bright cobalt depending on the light. But the deeper details are what make this reference compelling for collectors. Tudor used its own fonts for the day and date wheels, which are slightly broader and have a more technical feel than the classic Rolex serif. The aspect ratio of the day window at twelve o'clock is also subtly different, giving the dial a unique visual balance. Paired with a double quickset movement, it's a functionally modern watch with pure vintage aesthetics.
A True Time Capsule Example
This watch is in like-new condition. The case, bezel, and bracelet show minimal to no signs of wear, suggesting it was owned by someone who was either incredibly careful or entirely apathetic to wearing it. The blue sunburst dial is flawless, and the stainless steel Oyster bracelet is tight and clean. It is a true collector-grade example that looks as if it just left the factory. As with every watch we offer, this piece has been verified as mechanically sound and is ready to wear.
For The Thinking Collector
This is a watch for someone who appreciates the nuance of Rolex and Tudor history. It offers the visual power and functionality of the iconic Day-Date, but in a package that is far more discreet and uncommon. The combination of the steel case and the vibrant blue dial makes it a watch that can be worn anywhere without feeling out of place. It’s a smart, confident choice that sidesteps the obvious.

What Our Clients Say About Us

I knew I was gonna like Danny, based on his name, but nothing could’ve prepared me for how great of an experience this was. He had the most beautiful 70s Seamaster Cosmic on his website and I was set to be married 2 days later - I arranged to buy it but before leaving we both realized it needed to be serviced. I panicked, because I was literally buying this for my wedding, and Danny being the legend he is, loaned me a nearly identical Seamaster to make sure I could get through the event Never have I had someone go so above and beyond for me, especially while purchasing one of the lesser priced items in their inventory. He serviced my watch and exchanged it with me after the wedding on a super fast turnaround timeline. I would sincerely recommend you visit this guy, you will not be disappointed Edit: adding a pic of the loaner (two tone) and the owner (crosshair)

Great service and shop. Danny and his team were incredibly accommodating, professional, and kind. Great selection of vintage watches. Their store is the hidden gem in the diamond district.

This was my first real luxury watch purchase, a Rolex 15200 Date 34mm, I own Tissots and a Laco, but those are entry level luxury watches. I found Danny’s Vintage Watches online, and had great feedback both on Google, Chrono24 and the Reddit watch community. So decided to give him a shot as buying online can be a crap shoot. Ordered Monday night, was at my doorstep Friday morning. Despite the watch being over 30 years old, serial number says it’s from 91, the watch looked new. Didn’t come with box or papers, and was shipped in a plastic sleeve wrapped in bubble wrap. Danny was always available to answer questions. I’ll be buying from Danny again for the next purchase…saw a couple of Speedmasters on his site I liked….
