Vintage Rolex Oysterprecision 50s Ref 6424 Patina Dial Oyster Case Manual Wind 36mm Watch

Details
Here's a vintage Rolex reference # 6424 manual wind with a silver patina dial from the late 50s, early 60s. Keeps great time and is fully functional. Measurements include a 36mm oyster case and 20mm lug width (a larger size than the 6426 references at 34mm). It's on a tan brown pigskin leather strap. Time only. Silver patina dial. Matching alpha hands and dagger hour markers. Stainless steel case and caseback. The dial developed an even patina color with more cracking on the left side as seen in the photos. Harder to find these 36mm manual wind precisions. All parts are original including the signed Rolex crown, dial, movement, and caseback. Both the dial and case are in great cosmetic, untouched condition.

History

The Rolex Oyster non-date tells one of the clearest stories in watchmaking. It comes from an idea that changed the wristwatch forever: the Oyster case, introduced by Rolex in 1926, built to protect the movement from water, dust, and the wear of daily life. That was not just a technical step forward. It changed what a wristwatch could be. It made the watch something you could live in, rely on, and carry with you through the ordinary and the important moments alike.

The non-date Oyster feels especially honest because it leaves nothing to hide behind. No magnified window, no extra complication competing for attention, just time itself laid out with calm balance and clarity. There is something deeply satisfying about that restraint. The dial feels complete, almost intimate, as if every element has been allowed to breathe.

Over the years, the Oyster non-date has become more than a simple Rolex. It represents the quiet confidence at the heart of the brand: durability, precision, and design that does not beg to be noticed. Its beauty is not loud. It grows on you. The longer you look at it, the more it feels like the essence of Rolex stripped back to its most human form</p>
